...And artisanal excellence.

My choice of straw marquetry goes beyond aesthetics.

For me, it is an eco-responsible approach, using natural materials and sustainable techniques.

Rye straw, hand-harvested in Burgundy, allows me to create artworks with a low carbon footprint. Through my work, I wish not only to bring this artistic craft back into the present, but also to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability in art and respect for nature.

AT THE ATELIER

PEPINIERE SAINTE-CROIX

11, Rue du Port

BORDEAUX

Available by appointment

On the occasion of the European Artistic Crafts Days, the Pépinière Sainte-Croix in Bordeaux is opening its doors to the public. This event is an invitation to step inside the studios of passionate artisans, to discover their gestures and techniques, and to exchange around often little-known savoir-faire.

Having been based at the Pépinière for several months, I will be delighted to welcome you into my workshop and introduce you to straw marquetry: a delicate craft in which each strand of straw is split, flattened and assembled to reveal the natural light and reflections of this remarkable material.

These open days will also be an opportunity to meet other art artisans, each with their own universe, techniques and creations. A true journey through living crafts.

If you are curious to discover artistic crafts, and if you enjoy understanding how objects come to life, I will be very pleased to welcome you and speak with you.

THE STRAW

Each creation is also an opportunity to deepen the connection with straw, a living and subtle material.

It is grown, dried, sorted and then dyed by a cereal grower in Burgundy, with a palette of around sixty shades.

Each stem is then split, smoothed, glued on its matte side, and carefully flattened onto its support using a folding bone.

The silica varnish reveals the natural radiance of the straw and creates delicate plays of light as the eye moves across the piece.

STRAW MARQUETRY WORKSHOPS

Committed to passing on traditional savoir-faire, the Maison is also dedicated to sharing the meticulous art of straw marquetry.

Within the Pépinière Sainte-Croix, workshops are gradually being introduced to allow as many people as possible to discover and deepen their understanding of this artisanal technique.

Initially, three levels are offered — introduction, beginner and intermediate — providing a progressive learning path that combines traditional gestures, artistic sensitivity and hands-on work with the material.
