A timeless craft, reimagined......

Straw marquetry is an ancient artistic craft that consists of meticulously assembling strands of rye straw that have been previously dyed, split and smoothed. Arranged like a precious veneer, they are glued onto a support to create geometric patterns, plays of light and unique effects of depth.

Through the subtle work of reflections and natural nuances, each piece reveals a living material that captures the light differently depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

STRAW MARQUETRY WALL ART

Inspired by nature, history and art, these creations explore botanical motifs as much as upcycling approaches and geometric compositions, moving freely between abstraction and figuration.

At the crossroads of decorative art and fine craftsmanship, straw marquetry reveals the beauty of a humble material, transforming it into luminous, refined and timeless artworks.

ABSTRACT STRAW MARQUETRY ARTWORKS

In straw marquetry, abstraction reveals the full richness of the material: reflections, variations in tone and the direction in which the straw is laid become the true subjects of the artwork.

Each composition invites the eye to journey through light, texture and harmony, in a subtle dialogue between geometric rigour and creative freedom.

DENIM SKIRT WITH STRAW MARQUETRY

80 x 60 cm

Recycled denim elements — waistband, pocket and fabric panels — are integrated by collage onto a straw marquetry base. This abstract composition is conceived as a patchwork of forms evoking a denim skirt.

FAROE ISLANDS

50 x50 cm

This abstract composition is built around a play of contrasting straw placements, combining the sunburst technique with straw laid diagonally and vertically.

The first wooden support, entirely worked in straw marquetry, is then mounted onto a second board covered with glossy black wallpaper, which enhances the depth and reflections of the material.

A border, itself created in straw marquetry, frames the whole and gives structure to the piece.

At the centre, a block composed of several triangles organises the space into a rhythmic geometry, where light, texture and the direction of the fibres enter into a subtle dialogue.

CONSCIOUSNESS AWAKENING

64 x 57 cm

The work evokes the shape of a clock, with two V-shaped arms resting on a triangular base.

On this base, the straw is laid horizontally to create a stable foundation, while the lower part of the circle is worked in a chevron pattern to introduce a graphic rhythm.

The sides of the motif are treated diagonally, guiding the eye towards the centre, where the sunburst technique radiates, its point positioned precisely between the two V-shaped arms.

Finally, the branches of the form are highlighted with vertically laid straw, bringing height and tension to the overall composition.

STRAW MARQUETRY ANIMAL ARTWORKS

Through this series, these artworks celebrate the beauty and nobility of the animal world through the precious play of straw marquetry.

Between stylisation and sensitive presence, each piece acts as a tribute to fragile and endangered species.

Here, art becomes a precious memory of the living world and a pledge to pass it on.

Stag’s head drawn in geometric lines and rendered in the full range of straw tones.

The subject emerges subtly from the understated background, creating a delicate sense of depth.

PARROT

40 x 30 cm

Parrot shown in profile and treated as a geometric composition, revealing the full range of natural straw tones.

The so-called “sunburst” technique brings light to the plumage through a subtle radiance of pale straw.

TURTLE

28 x 19 cm

Stylised front-facing turtle created through a play of geometric forms in bluish and botanical tones.

A deep blue background, rhythmed by the vertical laying of the straw, serves as a setting for the composition.

BLUE STRAW MARQUETRY ARTWORKS

A series of “Studies” expressing the beauty of light through the careful placement of straw and geometric composition.

BLUE CHEQUERED COMPOSITION

20 x 20 cm

Straw laid alternately horizontally and vertically creates a checkerboard pattern,

while the edges of the artwork are covered with straw in the same shade for a harmonious finish.

BLUE CHEVRON STUDY

20 x 20 cm

The composition is structured around nineteen chevrons, each approximately one centimetre wide, framed by a border of blue straw.

The edges of the artwork are also covered with straw in the same shade, creating a coherent finish.

BLUE SUN COMPOSITION

19 x 19 cm

The surface is worked using the sunburst technique with straw in a single shade, its focal point positioned in the upper third of the artwork.

The edges of the piece are covered with the same straw, ensuring a homogeneous finish.

To ensure the protection and authenticity of each creation, all artworks are registered and protected through the e-Soleau service of the INPI.

This official system makes it possible to date the works and establish their authorship, providing legal security for both the artist and the collectors.

This approach reflects a commitment to preserving the unique character of each straw marquetry creation and to promoting an artisanal savoir-faire designed to stand the test of time.
