...in the service of heraldry...

This exceptional savoir-faire makes it possible to create unique works that combine tradition and modernity, with each strand of straw precisely cut and assembled to bring coats of arms and emblems to life.

BESPOKE HERALDIC COATS OF ARMS

Passionate about heraldry and its symbolic language, I studied for two years with the HERALDICA association. This training enabled me to deepen my knowledge of the history, rules and composition of coats of arms, in order to create straw marquetry pieces that are both faithful to heraldic tradition and shaped by an exceptional artisanal savoir-faire.

STRAW MARQUETRY TECHNIQUES FOR COATS OF ARMS

La paille de seigle, teinte par un céréalier en Bourgogne, est soigneusement fendue, lissée, puis collée sur un support en bois.

Rye straw, dyed by a cereal grower in Burgundy, is carefully split, smoothed, and then glued onto a wooden support.

Made to measure and created on request, these coats of arms are unique and rare pieces.

Finally, the silica naturally contained in the straw gives the heraldic arms their distinctive radiance.

Discover below the different straw marquetry techniques used to enhance the brilliance of each coat of arms.

These shields perfectly illustrate the versatility of straw marquetry, combining various assembly techniques and shades to create coats of arms that are both traditional and original.

Blason Croix Occitane en marquèterie de paille

Occitan Cross

Gules, an Occitan cross voided, clechée and pommetée of twelve pieces Or, overall

Handcrafted coat of arms representing the Occitan cross, created in straw marquetry using traditional savoir-faire.

The red straw background is laid in a sunburst pattern to capture the light, while the yellow straw cross, laid horizontally, creates a luminous contrast.

Each strand is precisely adjusted, highlighting the natural radiance of the straw.

Blason d'Azur à une Aigle d'Or en marqueterie de paille

Azure, an eagle displayed Or

This shield-shaped coat of arms is entirely covered with rye straw worked in marquetry. The strands of straw have been dyed blue, then split, smoothed and assembled in a regular chevron pattern. This geometric arrangement creates a play of reflections, enhancing the natural depth and light of the straw.

At the centre, an eagle in yellow straw stands out clearly against the background. Its silhouette is achieved through meticulous cutting and the precise vertical laying of the strands. The silica naturally present in the straw gives the eagle a golden radiance that contrasts harmoniously with the blue background.

Blason d'Azur à un Echiqueté d'Argent et de Gueule en marqueterie de paille

On a blue field, a silver and red chequered pattern

This shield-shaped coat of arms is composed of dyed rye straw for the upper section and a central chequered pattern combining straw with an alternative material to achieve the white colour.

On the upper part of the shield, the strands of straw are dyed in shades of blue, then split, smoothed and laid in a fan-like arrangement. This radiating effect creates a subtle gradient that draws the eye towards the centre of the coat of arms.

For the chequered pattern, the red squares are made from precisely cut straw, laid side by side for a homogeneous finish; the white squares are made of imitation leather, due to the absence of white straw. The regular alignment of each square requires meticulous placement to preserve the coherence of the motif and ensure a clean, precise result.
